Robert L. Phetteplace, 76, died at Blue Hills Alzheimer's Care Center in Stoughton on Sunday, July 27 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Patricia M. (Watts) Phetteplace. Born in Boston, he was raised in Dorchester and graduated from St. Mary's School in Cambridge and Northeastern University. He had resided in Stoughton for 41 years. Mr. Phetteplace was a courier for American Red Cross from 1980-1999. He was active at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton, where he trained Altar boys, taught CCD and helped at the school. He was formerly active at St. Mark's Church in Dorchester, where he was a handyman and former usher. He was a Cub Scout leader in Stoughton and Sea Scout leader at St. Mark's Church for several years. A gifted repairman, he also enjoyed gardening and puttering.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Phetteplace is survived by his children, Patricia E. Rourke and her husband Michael of Franklin, Judith M. Phetteplace and Robert L. Phetteplace both of Stoughton as well as his grandchildren, Brady and Ryan Rourke and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, July 31 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday 4-8 PM. Burial will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert's name may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St., Stoughton, MA 02072.
